Teeth sensitivity can be caused by various factors, including worn tooth enamel, exposed tooth roots due to gum recession, tooth decay, cracked teeth, teeth grinding, and acidic or sugary foods and beverages. Identifying the cause is crucial in determining the appropriate treatment approach.

Treatment options for teeth sensitivity may include desensitizing toothpaste, fluoride treatments, dental sealants, dental bonding or fillings, gum grafting to cover exposed tooth roots, or in severe cases, root canal therapy. The choice of treatment depends on the underlying cause and severity of sensitivity.

The timeline for experiencing relief from teeth sensitivity can vary depending on the specific treatment and individual circumstances. Some people may experience immediate relief, while others may require several weeks or even months of consistent treatment to achieve desired results.

After undergoing teeth sensitivity treatment, it is important to maintain good oral hygiene practices, avoid or limit consumption of triggering foods and beverages, use a soft-bristled toothbrush, and visit your dentist regularly for check-ups and cleanings. Following these preventive measures can help prolong the results of treatment and minimize the risk of recurring sensitivity.

I'd like to share a detailed and honest review of my experience. I'm an Australian patient who was in search of an affordable option abroad to improve my smile and bite functionality, as dental costs in Australia tend to be quite high. After extensive research, I came across Meraki Dental Studio in Delhi, India. In March, I made the decision to travel to Delhi and begin my smile makeover journey. My initial visit took place in April, during which Dr. Harleen and her team conducted five dental implants and addressed various other minor dental issues. After a waiting period, I returned to receive crowns for my missing teeth and 18 porcelain veneers. Along the way, there were a few minor challenges, but Dr. Harleen consistently chose not to take shortcuts. Instead, she always found solutions to ensure my satisfaction, even if it meant some(quite a bit) inconvenience on her end. Dr. Harleen is not only an exceptional dentist but also a remarkable and humble person. I've never been as satisfied with a healthcare practitioner before. What truly stood out about Meraki Dental Studio is their unwavering commitment to prioritizing patient satisfaction over financial considerations, which is a rarity in the healthcare industry. I'm incredibly grateful for the care I received at Meraki Dental Studio, and the results of their work are truly remarkable. I've attached some before-and-after photos so you can witness the impressive transformation achieved by Dr. Harleen and her team.

I had visited Dr. Harleen for consultation and after a lot of research and looking into other options. I couldn’t find someone better than her in terms of experience, services, technology, price and most of all her warm and understanding nature. I went ahead with an entire smile makeover (veneers, crown, gingivectomy, zoom whitening, composite filling) and I am more than satisfied. The finish is so natural. She worked so hard to make sure every detail and need was fulfilled. Her entire team is so amazing. They made sure I was looked after well in all my sittings. They were professional yet so fun. The most important part is my smile speaks volume of the work Dr did on me. Its more than amazing (it looks so natural). I highly recommend Dr Harleen for anything dental. She also managed to save two of my teeth from a root canal which was so impressive. For a person who doesn’t like visiting dentist, I wouldn’t mind visiting her again rather than delaying my treatments. Ps. I traveled from Indore to get my treatment done by her because she is that good.

Tooth sensitivity treatment Delhi

Teeth sensitivity is a common dental problem that involves discomfort or pain in teeth when encountering certain substances and temperatures. Tooth sensitivity occurs when dentin becomes exposed. This may occur through loss of tooth enamel (dentin is the layer of the tooth underneath the enamel). For example, brushing the teeth and gum line too hard, using a hard bristled toothbrush instead of a soft or medium toothbrush, may wear away tooth enamel causing toothbrush abrasion – Tooth sensitivity treatment Delhi

In addition, enamel erosion (loss of tooth structure) can occur as a result of consuming acidic foods. It may also occur as a result of gum recession and loss of the underlying cementum, which exposes the root surface.

What is tooth sensitivity – Symptoms of sensitive teeth

People with sensitive teeth may experience pain or discomfort as a response to certain triggers. You may feel this pain at the roots of the affected teeth – What is tooth sensitivity. The most common triggers include

  • Hot – foods and beverages
  • Cold – air
  • Sweet – foods and beverages
  • Acidic – foods and beverages
  • Cold  –  water, especially during routine dental cleanings
  • Brushing or flossing teeth
  • Alcohol-based mouth rinses

Your symptoms may come and go over time for no obvious reason. They may range from mild to intense.

What Causes Tooth Sensitivity? – Why sensitivity occurs in teeth

Why sensitivity occurs in teeth – Various things can cause tooth sensitivity. Some of the most common causes include:

  • Worn tooth enamel from using a hard toothbrush and brushing aggressively
  • Tooth erosion due to highly acidic foods and beverages
  • Tooth decay, worn, leaky fillings, and broken teeth that expose the dentin of your tooth
  • Gum recession that leaves your root surface exposed
  • Grinding your teeth at night
  • Post dental treatment sensitivity is common but temporary, especially with crowns, fillings, and tooth bleaching

How do I prevent sensitivity in future?

Avoiding sensitivity in the future is easy once you have the right tools. Make sure your oral health kit is fitted with what you’ll need to keep your teeth sensitivity-free:

Soft-bristled toothbrush

Brushing too hard or with too-tough bristles can wear down enamel and damage your gums. We only recommend soft-bristled toothbrushes, because at the end of the day, it’s all you need to clean your teeth. Replace the bristles every three months as they become worn.

Desensitizing toothpaste

What’s unique about this kind of toothpaste is the inclusion of potassium, which is thought to calm down the excitability of the nerves in your teeth. While most toothpastes contain fluoride, it’s especially important for strengthening and protecting sensitive teeth. It will work best if you’re brushing twice a day.

Night guard for grinders

If you grind your teeth at night; you could be wearing away enamel and leaving your teeth vulnerable. Get a night guard to protect your teeth.

Smart snacks

There are a number of foods and drinks that can trigger the pain with sensitive teeth so try to indulge in sugary, fizzy, and acidic foods and drinks less often, and at mealtimes. Additionally, wait a little while longer after you eat to brush your teeth so that you’re not brushing abrasive or acidic substances into your enamel.

In case you’re experiencing teeth sensitivity, it is recommended to get a dental consultation. As it is important to treat the cause behind the sensitivity. Our best dentist in New Delhi, India can diagnose and treat your sensitivity accordingly. Remember, a stitch in time, saves nine.
