FAQ's

Loose teeth can be caused by various factors, including gum disease (such as periodontitis), trauma or injury to the mouth, teeth grinding (bruxism), poor oral hygiene, bone loss due to osteoporosis or other medical conditions, and genetic predisposition. Identifying the underlying cause is crucial for determining the appropriate treatment approach.

Treatment options for loose teeth depend on the severity and underlying cause. They may include deep cleaning to address gum disease, scaling and root planing to remove plaque and tartar buildup, gum grafting to strengthen gum tissue, dental splints or braces to stabilize teeth, bone grafting to restore bone support, or in severe cases, tooth extraction and replacement with dental implants or bridges.

In many cases, loose teeth can be saved or restored with timely and appropriate treatment. The success of treatment depends on factors such as the extent of tooth mobility, the underlying cause, and the individual’s commitment to oral hygiene and follow-up care. Consulting with a dental professional is crucial to assess the feasibility of saving or restoring loose teeth.

The timeline for seeing results from loose teeth treatment can vary depending on the severity and complexity of the condition, as well as the chosen treatment approach. Some patients may experience improvement in tooth stability within a few weeks or months, while others may require a longer treatment period. Consistency in following the recommended treatment plan and maintaining good oral hygiene are essential for optimal outcomes.

Loose Teeth Treatment Delhi

Loose or shifting teeth can be a warning sign of a bigger problem associated with your oral health – Loose Teeth Treatment Delhi. If you are noticing that your teeth are becoming loose or are moving easily, set up an appointment with a dentist for an oral evaluation as soon as possible. Loose teeth can be a sign of gum disease and other oral health problems that may lead to tooth loss and irreversible damage of the supporting structure and bone.

Causes of a loose tooth in adults (Gums loosening)

A loose tooth or Gums loosening in adulthood doesn’t occur without cause. You may initially notice looseness while brushing or flossing, or your dentist may notice some wobbling during a routine dental appointment. In some cases, a loose tooth is due to advanced gum disease. This is when a bacterial infection attacks your gums, tissue, and surrounding bones.

Gum disease is the result of poor dental hygiene. If you don’t brush or floss on a regular basis, or if you skip regular dental cleanings, tartar can build up into the space underneath your gums. This disease is treatable. If caught early, it’s possible to kill an infection, stop inflammation, and restore the health of your teeth. If left untreated, gum disease can progress and lead to bone deterioration. Your teeth will not receive the support they need and will become loose. Early signs of Gums loosening include gums that bleed, are painful, or are red.

Your dentist can diagnose gum disease by examining your mouth for tartar buildup and by using a dental probe to measure your pocket depth. This is the space between your teeth and gums. Normal depth is between one and three millimeters. If your pocket depth is larger, this could indicate gum disease. Your dentist may order dental X-rays to check for bone loss.

Periodontitis (gum and bone disease):

If left untreated, periodontitis destroys the small periodontal ligaments and the bone that holds your teeth in place. If enough bone is destroyed, then your teeth have nothing in which to sit. Eventually, your teeth will become lose and may fall out or need to be extracted by your dentist.

Oral trauma:

Trauma to the teeth such as a heavy knock can stretch the small periodontal ligament fibres that attach your tooth root to your gums and surrounding soft tissues. When these ligaments are stretched, your teeth can feel loose. If the trauma has caused a fracture in the root of your tooth, this can also cause mobility. Another, very common, form of trauma to the teeth is nocturnal bruxism (teeth grinding and clenching). Grinding and clenching puts an enormous amount of pressure on your teeth and periodontal ligaments, which can lead to a feeling of loose teeth when you wake up in the morning.

Missing teeth:

if you have multiple teeth missing in your mouth, your remaining teeth are subjected to a greater amount of pressure. In effect, one or two teeth are expected to do the same amount of work that several teeth would usually take care of. This heavy load can put undue pressure on your teeth causing them to become mobile.

Infection or an abscess:

An abscess around a tooth can cause looseness as it results in bone resorption and soft tissue attachment loss.

Treatment for Loose Teeth

Occlusal (Bite) Adjustment:

First, the bite or occlusion (how the teeth meet together), can be adjusted by minor reshaping of the biting surfaces of the teeth so that they receive less force. This procedure is known as occlusal adjustment by selective grinding and requires knowledge and skill of how bites work and function.

Splinting:

If the teeth are very loose, they can be splinted or joined together like pickets in a fence so that any biting force is distributed among groups of teeth rather than individual loosened teeth.

What to do if you have a loose tooth

  • Call us immediately. Timely professional care can mean the difference between saving your tooth and losing it.
  • Avoid wiggling the tooth. This could loosen it furt Protect your loose tooth.
  • Eat soft foods, and try not to chew near the affected area. And while a liquid diet might sound like a good idea, no straws, please. Straws require suction, which can further dislodge your tooth.Keep the area clean, gently.
